Daddy

Three Reasons.

He has shown you, O man, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8

This is the verse that comes to mind when I think of my husband, the father of my 3 sweet babies.

Act Justly.

just

adjective

 based on or behaving according to what is morally right or fair;
guided by truth, reason, justice, and fairness:

He is constantly seeking the Lord, wanting to do only that which pleases Him.
In order to act according to what is good, you have to seek the only One who is good, spend time reading and being with
Jesus.
He is showing his children in word and in action what it means to seek the truth and to live a life that honors the Lord by obeying Him and acting justly.

Thank you for reading the Bible with Jack, for modeling with your actions what it means to know the Lord, for leading us in prayer every night as a family, and mostly for loving the Lord and living it.

Love Mercy.
mer·cy

noun

compassionate or kindly forbearance shown toward an offender, an enemy, or other person in one's power; compassion, pity, or benevolence

Disciplining a child requires compassion, love, patience, guidance and wisdom from the Lord. You have found a balance of being consistent and stern; yet loving and merciful. Our children know the boundaries and the consequences for crossing them.   They also know the deep love their father has for them, even in the corrections and discipline.

You have shown mercy and had compassion on those in need.
I know our children will grow up knowing the importance of helping others; seeing a need and meeting it if it is within your power to do so.

You are an example of God's constant love and mercy for His children.
They see you teach, rebuke, love and forgive them and will learn that, in the same way, our Heavenly Father teaches, rebukes, loves and forgives us.
No human is perfect, but they will see the Father's love and mercy through their earthly father's love and mercy.

Thank you for being kind and compassionate.
Thank your for showing us what it means to love mercy.
He looks up to you.

She adores you.

She is safe and content in her daddy's arms.

Walk Humbly.
hum·ble

adjective
not proud or arrogant; modest
having a feeling of insignificance, inferiority, subservience

To find a man who is strong and yet humble is a rare and precious thing. We live in a world where more is better and success and money are worshiped. Humility is not a measure of how much you have but rather it is an attitude of the heart.  When you are acutely aware of how insignificant you are in comparison with Almighty God, and yet realizing that you are important to Him, it is humbling.  To walk humbly with your God is being aware of our finite-ness and releasing our desire and wills for ourselves in exchange for His will for us.  It is acknowledging He loves us and He has the best in mind for us; therefore we seek to obey Him and please Him and as a result, we can walk in His plan for our lives.  A plan that is far better than any we could orchestrate for ourselves.

You have taught this to me through your faith in the Lord through difficult and good times.
Thank you for being the strong leader of our family, always directing our focus on the Lord and His timing and will for our lives.
You are walking humbly with your God, and I know He will bless you tremendously because of it.
It has already blessed your family tremendously.

For Jack, Claire, and Emmalise:
Thank You.

Happy Birthday to My Hubby :-)

Happy Birthday to the most amazing man in the world- my husband.  He is absolutely an incredible person whose compassion, faith, strength, love, and generosity continually amaze me.  There are literally times when I still stop and marvel at the fact that the Lord so graciously chose Sean for me; and how blessed I am to be his wife.  He absolutely is the leader of our family and his life is an incredible example of faith in action, always pointing to and relying on the One from whom all blessings flow.  He is literally the most unselfish, patient person I have ever know.  He would do anything for his family, and I have seen him love perfect strangers in a way that only a Christ-filled person could; meeting needs, and ministering to people with discernment and compassion.  He has been my strength and my rock through the most difficult season of my life, always encouraging me and helping me to focus on the Lord, His faithfulness, His love for me and for those I love.

There are no words that can adequately express how much I love Sean.  No words.  He is the love of my life, my best friend and there isn't another person in this world that I would rather travel this journey with.  Life is filled with joys and sorrows, surprises, and sometimes heart breaking circumstances, but the Lord has been gracious to me and has blessed me with this wonderful man to be my partner in this life.   Thank you Sean for being the kind of man your son can look up to and immulate; a faithful, kind, strong leader; committed to the Lord first and foremost, and also to your wife and family.  A father that your daughters can watch to see what true love looks like, how treasured you make me feel and how they also deserve to be loved and treasured someday by a man who loves and seeks the Lord.  That is a gift that goes beyond any other earthly possession or accomplishment.  And still I am also so proud of all your hard work and all you have accomplished.
You are amazing.
I am forever grateful and humbled to be your wife.
Thank you, Lord, for Sean.

A Father's Love

Happy Father's Day to the best Daddy in the world. He is an incredible man because he seeks the Lord with all of his heart. He is an incredible husband because he loves the Lord first and most. He is an incredible father because he sees his children as precious treasures entrusted to his care by the Father who loves them even more.

Daddy

In random moments between playing train table or baseball
he whispers, "I love you Jacky"
and a small voice replies,
"I love you sooo much Daddy."

I melt.

He talks to them about Jesus.
Jack says he "loves Jesus in his heart"
and then tells me
"I love Jesus in Daddy's heart too."

I do too.

He plays. He really plays.
Baseball, soccer, trains, "Jesus" (ie: little people nativity), fire fighter house.
"I want to ride on your neck, Daddy!"
A nightly event of running around the house,
two year old on top of Daddy-sized shoulders.

I smile.

He makes the little moments count.
Bedtime stories, "mini hikes"
"Just the boys!" Jack yells excitedly.
Working in the garage together,
barbecuing-real food and pretend
he feels special doing things Daddy does,
with his Daddy.

It is special.

He adores his baby girl.
Calls her little sweetheart
She coos and smiles at him
knowing he's already wrapped around her
tiny little finger.

It is so sweet.

He kisses, he cuddles, he really LOVES
his children.
He cherishes and loves their Mommy.
He leads our family with a quiet strength,
great faith,
a humble spirit fully devoted to our
Heavenly Father.

Incredible man, amazing husband, and the best Daddy in the world.

I am blessed. They are blessed.
Thank you Lord.

My little Valentine

Today is the start of my last week as a Mommy of only 1 baby! Next Tuesday, February 22nd, we will welcome the newest addition into our family- baby Claire! We are so excited and nervous, but mostly excited. It's kind of weird knowing that in 1 week our lives will forever be changed again, just as they were when Jack was born! So many emotions and adjustments- some wonderful, some not-so-much, but overall, we cannot wait.

Today is also Valentine's Day, and I cannot help but thank the Lord for my 2 sweet boys. I love my husband more than words can express, and my little son is the joy of my life.  Sean is so kind, loving, romantic, handsome, and selfless- I adore him. He is my best friend and there is no one else in the world I would rather spend my life with!

Exploring

Speaking of best friends...this morning Jack was watching the Cat in the Hat on t.v. and they were doing a little Valentines episode all about "best, best friends." Jack has lots of little friends {I'm also super blessed with wonderful girlfriends- who also happen to have babies that are Jack's age- so by default- he has little buddies}and he loves his buddies. He talks about them all the time and tells Daddy all about his playtimes with them. So when the show was ending, I asked Jack, "Who is your best, best friend?" He thought about it for a minute, and I was fully expecting him to say Bretters or Jon Jon or Trevor or one of his other little friends, but instead he said,

"Daddy! Daddy is Jacky's best best friend!!"

Jacky jumped up on the bed and wanted to lay just like Daddy!

Found him wearing Daddy's baseball cap and hiking backpack! He loves his Daddy!
I thought that was the cutest, sweetest thing so I immediately called Sean to tell him the story! He loves his daddy, and his daddy loves him! That is such a blessing, and just another reason I love them both so much! They have such a special, sweet relationship! I feel so blessed to be able to witness it. It is such a sweet reminder of how the Lord loves us as a Father. Incredible.

Happy Valentine's Day!
